- Recognition is required only for regulated professions (health, teaching and others); for other jobs it's voluntary and the ZAB statement of comparability helps. From 1 November 2026, doctors, dentists and pharmacists from outside the EU can go straight to a knowledge test.

## Language tests

- United Kingdom, Nurse: English: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall and in each part (6.5 in writing), or OET grade B (C+ in writing); then the NMC's computer-based test and a practical exam.
- United Kingdom, Midwife: English: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall and in each part (6.5 in writing), or OET grade B (C+ in writing); then the NMC's computer-based test and a practical exam.
- Australia, Nurse: English: usually IELTS Academic 7 in each part, or an accepted equivalent.
- United States, Nurse: Most states require the NCLEX exam; CGFNS reviews foreign nursing education.

## Steps

- Your diploma and full transcripts (list of subjects and grades).
- Certified translations of anything not in the language the body asks for.
- Your passport, and proof of any name change.
- For regulated professions: proof of registration and good standing where you trained, and your work experience.

- “Credential evaluators” that aren't listed by the official body — their reports are refused.
- Diploma mills selling degrees “based on life experience” — using one can end a visa or a career.
